BURNING INSIDE Boston Theatrical Premiere!

When You Mix German Expressionism, Surrealism, and Some Old Fashioned Blood-Letting: A Screening of Burning Inside at the Somerville Theater on January 5, 2011

On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, contemplative nightmare Burning Inside debuts at the Somerville Theater as part of monthly screening series All Things Horror Presents. Stark and meticulously shot, the black & white film takes cues from German Expressionism with a dash of David Lynch-inspired surrealism. As if lifted from a time capsule, it’s a film that fits alongside the midnight movies of the 70’s without a trace of self-referential irony. Disturbing imagery combines with punishing sound to create a visceral and cerebral film experience audiences won’t soon forget.

The screening takes place Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 8:00 pm at the Somerville Theater, 55 Davis Square in Somerville. Immediately following will be a Q & A with director/producer Nathan Wrann. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased either at the door or online at allthingshorroronline.net. Doors open at 7:30 pm.

Burning Inside (2009) (120 min), produced, written and directed by Nathan Wrann (Hunting Season) and features Michael Wrann and Kristina Powis.

“Impressive…a challenging and altogether harrowing experience for discerning horror fans.”
-Steven Puchalski, SHOCK CINEMA

“A raw and grinding midnight movie”
-Marcus Stiglegger, DEADLINE MAGAZINE

Synopsis: The film takes the viewer into the mind of protagonist John Doe, a comatose man who wakes in a hospital with no memory. Burning Inside: "A Deeply Penetrating Surreal Nightmare"

All Things Horror's Chris Hallock raves about BURNING INSIDE!

"Burning Inside is an intense, often mesmerizing horror film, and one of the few films that feels lifted straight from the era of 70's midnight movies. Clearly a lot of time and love was put into Burning Inside, and for that it deserves an audience. If you can devote yourself to the two hour running time, you will be rewarded with a film that you just can't shake once you arrive at the final frame."

THOMASTON OPERA HOUSE TO HOST SCREENING OF “BURNING INSIDE.”

The historic Thomaston Opera House will host a screening and discussion of West Haven, CT based independent filmmaker Nathan Wrann’s second feature film, BURNING INSIDE, on Saturday, November 6th. The film will hit the big screen at 7:30pm with a discussion with writer/director Nathan Wrann and the cast and crew will immediately follow.

A surreal exploration of the intertwined nature of revenge and memory "Burning Inside" is an intense, uniquely original revenge thriller from writer-director Nathan Wrann, Dalton Gang Productions (West Haven, CT) and Elmar Berger's Manic Entertainment. John Doe (Michael Wrann) awakens from a coma to find that he has no memory of his life, who he was, or the vicious beating that put him there. He embarks on a life of normalcy, taking a wife, starting a family, mowing the lawn. This Norman Rockwell world is soon torn from him as he becomes driven to get revenge. Revenge for a life that he does not remember. Revenge for pain lost to amnesia. Revenge for what he believes to be true. John Doe seeks out those that hurt him and makes them pay. Or does he? Such is the tragic moebius strip of revenge when the past and the future collide. There is no beginning, there is no end. There is only the eternal inferno of violence, love and sorrow Burning Inside. The cast and crew, almost exclusively made up of local, Connecticut residents, features Michael Wrann, Kristina Powis and Bret Logan.

Writer/Director Nathan Wrann explains choice for screening at the unique venue: "The Thomaston Opera House is a beautifully restored, historic theater that we scouted while looking for locations for our next project, a short film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Fall of the House of Usher'. Upon entering the theater I immediately fell in love with the remarkable craftsmanship found in the auditorium. While discussing its use as a location we discovered that the theater is equipped to screen movies and knew that it would be a perfect venue for a screening of 'Burning Inside'."

BURNING INSIDE is the second feature from Nathan Wrann and Dalton Gang Productions filmed entirely within Connecticut. Dissatisfied with the caliber of modern independent horror movies and cult thrillers, husband and wife producing team, Nathan Wrann and Kimberly Dalton set out to create the kind of underground movies they’d like to see — literate and thought provoking in plot, brutal and unrelenting in tension. With BURNING INSIDE, they’ve hit the mark with a vengeance.

BURNING INSIDE is the first film distributed by Channel Midnight Releasing, the new distribution label from respected cult filmmaker James Felix McKenney (CANNIBALLISTIC!, HYPOTHERMIA) and producers Lisa Wisely (AUTOMATONS, SATAN HATES YOU) and Chase Tyler of The Work Room Productions as a means to distribute select titles from talented filmmakers that scream to be seen by their target audience is currently available for at channelmidnight.com
Tickets are available for $3 at the Thomaston Opera House Box Office.
